STEEPED IN HISTORY
Turkey is an incredibly diverse, beautiful and culturally rich country. The Turkish towns and cities are shaped by its fascinating history, which can be dated back over 5,000 years of culture and mythology. Turkey has been ruled over by the Byzantine, Lycian, Hittite and until the 1920’s the Ottoman Empire, and each have left their mark with monuments and ruins scattered throughout the countryside. In fact, it’s believed that in Turkey there are more Greek ruins than in the whole of Greece and more Roman ruins than there are in Italy! Homer was born in Turkey, Noah’s Ark rested on Mount Ararat, and Anthony wooed Cleopatra in Turkey.

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE – PLENTY TO SEE & DO!
Turkey boasts a mix of Western influenced modern living and traditional old world charm. It is steeped in history, has 8000kms of varied coastline, stunning beaches, fantastic cuisine, trendy western-style bars and clubs alongside traditional Turkish cafes, bustling cities and quaint fishing villages, a wonderful climate, low cost of living and warm friendly locals!

Turkish people are charming, genuine helpful, and really make a fuss of children. You will find that the majority of people speak excellent English, and are always keen to help. Once met, never forgotten, they will welcome you back and remember you as old friends year after year.

What’s more, shopping in Turkey is great, with open-air markets, covered Turkish Bazaars and chic boutiques everywhere.

Properties in Turkey are ideal for sports enthusiasts! Recent years have also seen investment in public amenities as well as a leisure sector boom which has resulted in the creation of top-class sporting facilities – golf, equestrian and tennis – and attractive new marinas to serve the sailing fraternity. Many thousands of visitors flock to Turkey each year just to pursue their sporting and cultural interests in superb unspoilt surroundings.

GETTING THERE – CHEAPER & CLOSER THAN YOU MAY THINK!
Turkey benefits from a great climate, yet has a relatively short travel time from most European countries with improving access and a modern economy that already has the infrastructure to effectively promote foreign investment. The advent of low cost airlines will also create a big up lift in popularity and prices. Thomsonfly, Avro and Mytravellite already fly to the southwest and Easyjet fly to Istanbul. It is no wonder more Europeans are buying Turkish properties!

DELICIOUS TURKISH CUISINE

Turkish Cuisine is said to be one of the top major cuisines in the world, and dining out in Turkey is a gastronomic delight! Turkey produces practically all its own food, and a day out at the food markets is not to be missed.

Turkish food combines culinary traditions of a pastoral population originating from Central Asia and the influences of the Mediterranean regions. Although another one of the true glories of the country, Turkey has no real ‘signature’ dish such as the Italian ‘pasta’ or the Spanish ‘Paella’. Instead, you’ll find a rich and diverse array of dishes, all combined in feast-like meals.

However, possibly the most famous of Turkey’s cuisine is “meze”, Similar to the Spanish tapas, "meze" is the general category of dishes that are brought in small quantities to start the meal off. These are all washed down with Turkish wine or more likely with "raki", the anise-flavoured national drink of Turks. Another favourite export is the kebab. But there’s far more to Turkish food than meze and kebabs. The long coastline Turkey has along the Mediterranean Sea means there is always plenty of fresh sea food on offer. And let’s not forget the renowned Turkish Delight - originally made from dates, honey, roses and jasmine bound by Arabic gum and designed to sweeten the breath after a strong Turkish coffee!
